Children's Cookie Recipe

I got this recipe from my lovely friend Sarah, who was a brave enough soul to invite several toddlers into her kitchen to make a mess, er, make cookies. The kids had a lot of fun and her kitchen didn't end up covered in flour somehow. She adapted it from an easy bake oven recipe so it doesn't have any eggs and it safe to eat the raw dough. Which your child will do and probably even you too.
Cream together:
1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 2 teaspoons softened butter
Mix in:
1/8-1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/8-1/4 teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon water, 3 tablespoons flour

Mix well. Add in 4 teaspoons chocolate chips and 4 teaspoons butterscotch chips. Drop small spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake at 350 F for 8-10 minutes, makes 6-12 bite sized cookies.

I usually double the recipe so I have plenty to eat too, since they are just bite size. I usually find when baking cookies as soon as you start to smell them, they are ready to be pulled out of the oven, just let them cool a minute on the sheet to set a bit more. Makes soft, chewy cookies every time. This is a great time to just let your kid have at it, they will make a mess and do not even bother trying to tidy up as you go, that defeats all the fun. That is why my son is pictured with no shirt on, less for me to try to stress about. This is also great to help your child with counting- 2 more spoons of flour, 1 more spoon, etc.

34 weeks and felties

I had my 34 week routine appointment today. Today was my first time seeing this O.B., and I really liked her because she has a very upbeat, cheery personality. I did have a total moment of preggo brain, and showed up for my appointment yesterday. I felt pretty stupid trying to check in! The doctor told me that once you get to 34 weeks, they will not do anything aggressive to stop labor. She also felt the baby's position, and said it feels head down, and the baby's butt feels boney and that is why I have been having a hard time checking the position. During the exam she said she could feel the baby's head sphincters and that I am still only 1 cm diated. Hopefully doing inversions twice daily helped to turn this baby! I see her in two weeks and we will get a definite position of the baby, and if it is breech again that is when we will start making plans as to what to do next. All in all, I think it was a good appointment!

I also have been working on a few felties, it took about 4 popsicles before I finally was happy with how they were turning out. I was kind of ashamed of myself, I didn't think to make the chocolate ones until I was at the craft store and saw cocoa brown felt! The lighter color is suppose to be a cream in the popsicle. I also made these lemon slices, although I think they look more like oranges...I don't think they are great, and would rather make some 3-d wedges, so I didn't make anymore. I did finally let Kiki play with everything yesterday, and it all held up extremely well considering what he put it through. Waiting in line at the bank I overheard the people behind me wondering why his popsicle wasn't melting! Knowing that the food withstood the wrath of my toddler gives me confidence to be able to let other children play with them now!

I have a machine!

A sewing machine that is. I talked my mother into giving me her old singer to use, it is the machine I have always sewed on, and I am so happy to have it. That being said, when I recieved it I didn't even want to put it in my car it was so dirty! It looks like it had been stored in a basement or something since the last time I probably used it 5 years ago. The machine just needed to be wiped down, but I scrubbed the case down with some Le Scrub, and it looks great now. I also got a sewing container of thread and needles in too poor of condition to use, but did find this cute vintage needle book in there. I dont collect vintage stuff, so if anybody would like it let me know!

Raviolis

Here are the raviolis I have been working on! I only managed to make 3 Sunday night, but today it only took me about 10 minutes to finish each ravioli. I am going to make more, and stuff the box full. I made them in three colors, so they would look whole wheat raviolis. I am very happy with them, and the cute little box to put them in! Making these gave me an idea to try to make more pasta, particularly fafalle noodles.

First Felties!

Here is my first try at make some little felt food. I have made a few fried eggs now, and love the way they have turned out. I wanted to make some bacon to go with the eggs, but couldn't find 'pork brown' felt, so this is the closest I could get. I have already started to work on my second set of felties, but I am going to wait until I finish to say anymore. Oh, the suspense!
