Children's Cookie Recipe

I got this recipe from my lovely friend Sarah, who was a brave enough soul to invite several toddlers into her kitchen to make a mess, er, make cookies. The kids had a lot of fun and her kitchen didn't end up covered in flour somehow. She adapted it from an easy bake oven recipe so it doesn't have any eggs and it safe to eat the raw dough. Which your child will do and probably even you too.
Cream together:
1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 2 teaspoons softened butter
Mix in:
1/8-1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/8-1/4 teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon water, 3 tablespoons flour

Mix well. Add in 4 teaspoons chocolate chips and 4 teaspoons butterscotch chips. Drop small spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake at 350 F for 8-10 minutes, makes 6-12 bite sized cookies.

I usually double the recipe so I have plenty to eat too, since they are just bite size. I usually find when baking cookies as soon as you start to smell them, they are ready to be pulled out of the oven, just let them cool a minute on the sheet to set a bit more. Makes soft, chewy cookies every time. This is a great time to just let your kid have at it, they will make a mess and do not even bother trying to tidy up as you go, that defeats all the fun. That is why my son is pictured with no shirt on, less for me to try to stress about. This is also great to help your child with counting- 2 more spoons of flour, 1 more spoon, etc.

This is cute. I was just showing Nature Girl who our partners are for the Be Mine Valentine Swap. She got excited when she saw the picture and said "He's naked baking!" I had to chuckle. We had naked spaghetti night for her when she was young to reduce the amount of stained clothing from her messy eating.
Nature Girl also says "I like your pictures. I hope you will like the package we are going to get you."
