My blog got a little facelift, as you can see. I found a cute site that offers backgrounds and headers for your blog, in a variety of styles, and its free! I feel my blog is a little more personal at least, since it is not one of bloggers standard backgrounds. It was a litte confusing at first, if you have questions let me know, I might be able to help.
I saw the doctor on Friday. The baby hasnt changed or made any more progress since my last visit, which is kinda good because my docotor said if I kept progressing the way I was I would be at 4cm, and I dont need to walk around like that for 2 more weeks! She reminded me that the baby will come when it's ready, and on it's own time. I now feel like I am going to be pregnant forever, but I just need to keep reminding myself I am blessed with a heathy baby in utero that will be here before I know it.
I have been working on some felt food, but I am trying to make some sets so they take a little bit more time. I am also trying to get a birthday present done for this weekend. My plan is to give all handmade gifts for Christmas and upcoming birthdays. I think it will be more meaningful and sweet, but I have 5 children I would like to make presents for Christmas, and all of them have a birthday around the same time! I need to get creative and start sewing!

Baugette and Baby

So I finished this little felt baugette and made a little bread bag to go along with it. I just added it to my Etsy shop, so let me know what you think! I have had a great week with my shop, and had 2 sales this week! One is from my lovely friend, who somehow manages life with twin toddlers and an older daughter. Now I need to hurry up and get some more food made to fill up my shop!
I saw the doctor yesterday, and she said that she thinks I will be in labor before my next appoinment on Friday. That's right, less than 48 hours away. I have dialated to about 2 1/2 -3 cms. and the baby is as low in my pelvis as it can be. I am going to try to do some walking over the next day or two and see if that will give me the little extra push my body needs. Maybe my next post will be announcing our next little one!
Now we just need to come up with some boy names...

Some projects...
So, I finally broke down and bought a pair of fabric scissors. Real fabric scissors, I was using some kindergarten round tip, 5 inch plastic handled scissors that were left behind in my last apartment. Sad, I know. I was working on these burb cloths and nursing pads for myself, when they pretty much broke. I am horrible at doing things for myself, even as I was making these mama/baby it
ems I was contemplating giving them to another pregnant friend of mine! I am going to keep them, since I find the material for both pretty ugly. I made 6 burp clothes and 12 pairs of nursing pads- thats right 24 pads total! I have had the material laying around for over two years now, and just am tired of seeing it. I won't feel bad when the baby spits up all over it then... I used some well worn receiving blankets for inner liners, as well as some receiving blankets from the hospital I was going to return with this baby but know I will be to embarrassed to put them back in the hamper there.
I also finished up a Breakfast food set for my Etsy shop. I originally was going to just add a few pieces of food to some that I had already created to complete a set, but instead made all new pieces becasue I don't think my first items are durable or good enough quality to put in my shop. So, they got added to my toddlers play food instead. I had a huge wave of inspiration this morning for some very unique food items, hopefully pictures will be posted this week!

37 weeks and donuts!
Well in one more week I will be considered full term! I had a few hours of contractions Monday night, accompanied by a lot of pelvic and lower back pain. I saw the doctor Tuesday morning for a routine appointment and have gained 1 pound since I had seen her 4 days before. Everything else stayed the same, except the baby dropped down to a -2 station. I have visits twice a week now, I think she is having my appointments scheduled that way because she doesn't believe I will make it much further.
I finished some felt donuts finally, and have them added to my Etsy shop. Go check them out! We have also been having nice weather here lately, where it is a bit chilly in th
e morning but gets very warm by mid afternoon. It was a perfect day to go down to this little secluded area of the lake my friend showed me. No one is ever down there, and there are tons of rocks for collecting, or throwing in the lake as my son does. It makes me sad to think these days are coming to an end, both the weather and carefree, spontaneous playtime with just my son.

Etsy is Open!
Well my etsy shop is now open! You can check it out here or I have added a link on the left side bar. I have 3 aprons in there now for sale, go check them out and let me know what you think! I didnt get any sewing done this weekend, with trying to get baby stuff ready but will hopefully be putting some felt food sets up during this week.
I also added a follower's gadget to the side bar if anybody cares to express enough love of my blog to stalk me,er, follow me.
I have gotten about half of that do list done though. The baby's clothes are washed and folded ( took me at least an hour to fold those tiny shirts!) and I have them on the shelves on our changing table in the meantime. I have the crib out, hopefully that will get set up today. We still need to buy a mattress for it though. Almost everything is tagged for the rummage sale, and I think I am just going to start buying invites and other birthday party stuff tomarrow with or without Mr. Perea's approval. He can just bite me, last time he was suggesting holding off on a party, because you know, he thinks it is just not that important!

36 weeks and a long to-do list
I had my routine 36 weeks doctor's appointment today. The doctor said the baby has stayed head down, so we should have no worries about the baby being breech for delivery. I have gained 2 more pounds, and am steadily gaining a pound a week, which is normal. The nurse today was very nice, going on about how I look like I am all belly and not to worry about my weight and how I should be one of those pregnant models...ok, she was pushing the truth there, but it was still very sweet. I am further dialated now, with my cervix being soft and am 50% effaced. The doctor said she doesnt think I will make it to my due date, and that I will be having this baby early. So I guess my 4 weeks more time frame is out the window...
I do have way to many things to get done before the baby comes, and am hoping by making a list it will help me get focused:
I do have way to many things to get done before the baby comes, and am hoping by making a list it will help me get focused:
- wash all the baby's clothes, car seat cover, swing cover, and bed linens ( 1 load in the washer right now!)
- Set up the baby's crib (this weekend hopefully)
- buy missing harware pieces for the crib (going to try to do this tomarrow morning)
- buy a crib mattress
- Tag and price items for rummage sale I am participating in on the 27th (started a little bit)
- Install infant car seat base (have an app. for monday morning with a technician)
- Get a dresser for the baby or figure out some way to store the baby's clothes and blankets
- Plan my son's birthday party that should be happening at the end of the month

A Long Week
Well it has been a very tiring week, with moving over the weekend and just trying to get back in the swing of things. Our new place has plenty of extra room, which will be filled with baby stuff as soon as I get on top of things. I have had time to sew over this week though and finished up this cookie set for my sons birthday in 25 days (note to self- plan a birthday party!). The set includes a decorated box for storage, an apron, a rolling pin, cookie cutter, a piece of r
aw dough, 2 raw cookies, and 2 baked cookie that I sprayed with a yummy cotton candy spray. This set is similar to the previous one I made, except I made it more 'boyish', using brown, olive and blue as my colors.
I have good baby news- I believe the baby dropped within the last two days or so. I woke up this morning and could feel the baby's head about 2 inch
es or so above my pubic bone. I have a routine doctor's appointment on Friday and will have the doctor check the babies position to make such the baby is still head down and weather the baby has dropped or not. To leave you all off with, here is a sneak peak at what i have been sewing this week. I don't want to post full pictures until the whole 'collection' is done though, so let the anticipation grow!

Rainy Day Bliss
I love rainy days. Perfect excuse for lounging around, sewing or reading a good book and cuddling. I should have known it was going to be one of those days when the first thing Kiki told me this morning was 'hug', a word he only learned a few days ago. He had that sweet look in his eyes as he chatted away this morning to his Papa getting ready for work. It has poured all day and we just played on the couch together while I stitched away at some more cookies. I cut out all the pieces for his cookie baking kit, and I am already half way finished with his kit. It is still raining, and it is only nap time, so I think this evening calls for a mac n cheese casserole, and some more sewing. today is the perfect, relaxing day before the big weekend starts with cleaning, packing, unpacking and trying to get settled into a new house. At least I turned the satellite and Internet off for the weekend to try to get some stuff done. Maybe monday's post will be of a finished cookie baking kit and a nice cozy home...

Cookie Baking Set
I am so excited to be done making this! I made this set for a friend of mine's daughter, Paige, whom Kiki affectionalty calls 'boo'. Her birthday is 6 weeks away, so I have it done plenty early, but figured hopefully I will be getting a head start on fall birthdays and Christmas coming up. I decorated the box with the cover saying 'Paige's sweet shop'. Inside is a mini pink polka dot apron with a small pocket perfect for stashing a cookie in, an oven mitt, and piece
of raw 'dough' with a rolling pin, a heart shaped cookie cutter, two unbaked cookies, and two finished frosted cookies. The cookie cutter is the same size as the cookies, so she can actually pretend to cut them out. I made up the pattern for the apron also, everything I found online was much too complicated for the apron I had envisioned. I used 2 D rings for the neck strap in hopes that it would be able to fit longer. I have also started on another version of this kit for my own son's birthday in 4 weeks, and I am loving making this so much I have already wondered who else would like one for Christmas?!

Labor meme
In honor of Labor Day, http://www.rocksinmydryer,typepad.com/shannon/ has a labor meme for anybody who wants to join in.
How long were your labors?
13 hours, from the first 5 minute apart contraction until birth.
How did you know you were in labor?
A lot of downward pressure, I didn't even really notice the contractions until I got hooked up to those test strips and was made to lay down.
Where did you deliver?
At a hosptial. I will be using the same hospital for this birth.
Drugs?
Yes, I had an epidural. I am planning on keeping my options open this time though, since I know what to expect.
C-section?
No, and lets hope this baby stays head down and doesn't give the doctors any reason for one either!
Who delivered?
A great doctor. Even though she was only there for about 5 minutes of delivery/post delivery I am sad she moved away and will be unable to deliver this baby. She moved to my sister's town, so maybe when my sister has a baby she can have the same doctor! (She has to get pregnant first though!)
Can anybody tell me how to add a link without having all that mumble-jumble in there? Like just using one word?
